By D. Clay Hays Who is this Arkansas man who would wed octuplets Mom, Nadya Suleman? Well, I’m afraid he doesn’t exist. That’s just something I made up to facilitate this experiment, a test if you will, of a seemingly empty American society whose own existence depends on the lives of others. And so far you’ve all failed miserably unless, that is, you only clicked that link because you thought “I gotta see this dumb-ass”! On the other hand, if you spend all your time watching reality shows and perusing this kind of crap on the internet, then you, my friend, are the subject of this study. So tell me, is it you and your pitiful existence that demands we all be subjected to this daily moronic deluge? Or is the American Media simply force-feeding what they actually believe to be news? I mean, c’mon people, one day you heard she had eight babies so how about “Wow, that’s a bunch”, and we all go on with our lives. Is that really too much to ask? Apparently so because the next day we heard they were in vitro babies. Ok, so how about “Wow, that’s weird” and off we go. Then the next day we heard she already had six other children. Now stop right there… At this point we should have all figured out that Nadya Suleman is a FREAK! She’s a FREAK today people and she’ll be a FREAK tomorrow! Can you not see that you are only feeding the beast when you fall for this crap? The more you watch it, the longer the Media will stretch it out for all it’s worth. Being an avid NBC Today Show watcher, I saw it coming on the second day. I made note of the fact that Ann Curry was “out on assignment” when the story first aired simply because she is my favorite. Then during the second mention the next day, Ann was still out. Wait now, hmmm…wonder where Ann is? Then on the third day the Today Show revealed that they’d be airing Ann’s exclusive interview with the octuplets Mom on the fourth day! Are we seeing a pattern here people or are you so desperate that you don’t care? I tried to get away from it this morning by switching over to ABC’s Good Morning America while the Today Show was having “Nadya Time”. Yep, you guessed it, they were having “Nadya Time” too! Now, are you with me so far? Because if you are, then you too have surmised that this is all just a pilot for the next mindless, time-wasting disgrace we have come to know as Reality Shows. And then the auto manufacturer that is most in need of good PR will give her a mini-van, the diaper company with similar needs will give her a whole truck-load and before you know it, the FREAK of the Day will be way better off than you are! Stop the insanity people, or at least keep it to yourself, for the rest of us actually have things to do! Can I get a Hell Yeah?
