Boating presents unequaled opportunities to experience wondrous things. Things that take your breath away, things that inspire, things you'll never forget.
I snapped this pic some time ago and immediately tucked it away to await the proper inspiration. Upon seeing it again this morning, the words just seemed to flow and the result is the following poem for boaters. (Boaters need Poetry too!)
I hope you enjoy it...
First glimpse of light beckons him to rise before the dawn,
Perhaps today will be the day and again the race is on.
Dress quickly and keep an eye on the horizon for the timing must be right,
A smile escapes as he smells the coffee prepared the previous night.
Slipping out the door into crisp morning air, his senses begin to wake,
To the boat, squeeze the bulb, turn the key, untie and head out on the lake.
Beating the light, the boater claims the contest he has won,
The reason...just because he can. The reward...Crossing the Sun.
