Hunan Palace - 4737 Central Avenue, 501-525-3344
"Menu Only" Chinese restaurant recently received recognition from Hot Springs Sentinel-Record Reader's Choice Awards, 2nd Place Best Chinese! No personal opinion as I have yet to try them but I hope to soon.

Kings Chinese Restaurant - 3310 Central Ave, 501-318-1888
All day buffet and menu service too. The awards speak for themselves: Arkansas Times and Hot Springs Sentinel-Record Readers Choice Award 1st Place Chinese and Readers Choice Award 2nd Place Best Buffet too! You won't believe the array of items to choose from including crab legs, shrimp and the sushi bar! My opinion? I hurt myself every time I go and I go as often as I can!

Vin Chinese Restaurant - 4501 Central Ave, 501-525-1148
Don't know much about these guys yet, working on it! Sorry, haven't had the occasion but I hope to soon.

Wok Express - 1418 Albert Pike Road, 501-623-4932
No fancy buffets or wait staff, you place your order at the counter and go back and get it when they holler your number! But if you're over on the West side and you want some great authentic Chinese food, Oh Boy this is the place! One of their simplest dishes, chicken egg fu yung, makes my mouth water every time I think about it!

Barbeque

Harold's Bar-B-Que - 4897 Malvern Ave, 501-262-3032
Formerly "Midway BBQ" out on the road to Malvern. Nice, cozy little bar
and some great BBQ!

McClard's Bar-B-Q - 505 Albert Pike Road, 501-624-9586
"World Famous" McClard's BBQ that is! You know, in every famous place there's always a restaurant or two in the Must Do catagory, well this is one of ours! A true fixture in Hot Springs, McClard's has been at it since 1928. All I need do is relay the accolades: Hot Springs Sentinel-Record Reader's Choice Award 1st Place Best Barbeque...13 years running, voted one of The Travel Channel's "Top Ten Barbeque Restaurants", listed in Southern Living Magazine's "40 Things Every Southerner Ought To Do", voted one of Travelocity's "Local Secrets, Big Finds" and seen on the Food Network's "The Best Of"! Oh there's more, just no room! Go in and check out the pictures on the walls, you won't believe who's been to McClard's! Stay for a plate of ribs-n-fries and get a bottle of their sauce to take home! Ok, my turn! Taking into consideration I am not a big BBQ fan (I know! An Arky Boy that's not crazy about BBQ?), I whole-heartedly and unequivocally recommend McClard's crazy creation called the "Tamale Spread". Buckle in Boys! This thing will put a hurtin' on you and I mean that in the best possible way! The dish includes Fritos, hot tamales, BBQ beans, chopped beef with BBQ sauce all smothered with chopped onions, and all covered with shredded cheese and served with, of all friggin' things, crackers! Lordy mercy, I gotta take a break now, surely they're open.

Mickey's Bar-B-Q - 1522 Park Ave, 501-624-1247
My bad! Can't tell you much but I'll get a man on it!

Smokin' In Style BBQ - 2278 Albert Pike Road, 501-767-9797
Another award winner! Hot Springs Sentinel-Record Reader's Choice Award 2nd Place Best Barbeque, 1st place winner of the Spa City Rib Cook-Off and the Big Butt Cook-Off! There's some credentials for you. All the BBQ fans I know love it!

Stubby's Bar-B-Que - 3024 Central Ave, 501-624-1552
Always a favorite in Hot Springs, Stubby's got 3rd Place Best Barbeque according to Hot Springs Sentinel-Record Readers! Been there, you know I'm not a BBQ fan but it's as good as I've ever had and I know alot of folks who swear by 'em!

Cajun

Cajun Boilers - 2806 Albert Pike Road, 501-767-5695
Specializing in Boiled Seafood and Cajun Cuisine. The awards speak for themselves: Arkansas Times Best Seafood for 21 consecutive years and Hot Springs Sentinel-Record Reader's Choice Award 1st Place Best Seafood
...again! I used to work across the street from this place and the smells would just kill us every afternoon! Great Cajun specialties plus steaks, alligator and of course crawfish (in season). Been there, killer shrimp scampi and crab legs a flyin!

Continental / Gourmet

Cafe 1217 - 1217 Malvern Ave, 501-318-1094
Hot Springs residents, Arkansans in general actually, consistently give Cafe 1217 high marks in several "Favorite" categories including Best Lunch, Best Salad, Best Desserts, and Best Continental/Gourmet. Owner/Chef Diana Bratton calls it "Eclectic American Cuisine", I just call it good!

German

Hot Springs Brau Haus - 801 Central Ave, 501-624-7866
Restaurant & Biergarten serving authentic German & Austrian dishes, homemade desserts and Arkansas' largest selection of German biers. They say "The Atmosphere Must Be Experienced To Be Believed". The press says "One of America's finest German restaurants" (Amerikawoche Magazine) and "One of the best restaurants in Arkansas 7 years in a row" (Arkansas Times). I've been there a few times, always with excellent results!

Italian

Belle Arti Italian Ristorante - 719 Central Avenue, 501-624-7474
The artistically presented dishes are splendid examples of Italian Cuisine at its finest. Belle Arti Italian Ristorante is an authentic Italian experience hosted by owners Penny & Chef Joe Gargano. Haven't had the pleasure but their commercials make me want to very soon!

Mexican

Don Juan Authentic Mexican Restaurant - 1311 Albert Pike Road, 501-321-0766
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the entire world! If you love Mexican food, Don Juan's is an absolute must when you visit Hot Springs. A local favorite with a colorful flair, they call their margaritas "Perfect" for a reason! Can't say enough good about it as you can see.

Don Juan Grill & Cantina - 4501 Central Ave in Hot Springs Mall, 501-525-0013
Movin' on up - Don Juan's has added a second location in the Hot Springs Mall, making it the "Perfect" place for lunch and a shopping spree! Same great food, margaritas and service as the original.

La Hacienda Original Family Mexican Food - 3836 Central Ave, 501-881-4622
A definite favorite for more than 20 years in Hot Springs, La Hacienda features a great atmosphere, excellent service and their family's original dishes as well as traditional Mexican fare. Voted one of the "Best" in both state and local polls for several years running.

Pizza

Hawg's Pizza Pub - 1442 Airport Road, 501-767-4240
If you love "the Hogs" you'll love Hawg's! It's a great place to gather and watch the Arkansas Razorbacks, and the other teams are ok too! Excellent pizza! So says the Hot Springs Sentinel-Record Readers...2nd Place Best Pizza. Been there, by boat too, and it was great!

Lucky's Bar & Grill - 711 Central Avenue, 501-622-2570
A Downtown hot spot, Lucky's serves up appetizers, burgers, sandwiches and pizza, and features live music by some of Hot Springs' most popular musicians. Dance the night away with Lucky's House Band, Rock Solid, every Friday & Saturday from 10:00 pm till 2:00 am.

Rod's Pizza Cellar - 3350 Central Ave, 501-624-RODS (7637)
Rod's Pizza Cellar, home of the "Godfather" pizza, is a fixture in Hot Springs, offering up great pizza and excellent service since 1975. This is far from your average "Pizza Place"! Voted #1 Best Pizza by locals (Hot Springs Sentinel Record's Reader's Choice Awards) and runner-up for Best Pizza in the State. Excellent pasta dishes & sandwiches, unique gourmet pizzas and everything is made from scratch every day.

Seafood

Fisherman's Wharf - 5101 Central Avenue, 501-525-7437
Casual dining on the lake with oyster bar, steaks and fresh seafood daily. New 7,000 sq. ft. covered outside seating. Don't forget to throw some leftovers over the rail, you won't believe the feeding frenzy that ensues! Been there, by land and by boat, nice place either way.

Steak

Back Porch Grill - 4810 Central Avenue, 501-525-0885
Located on Lake Hamilton at Sun Bay Resort, their slogan is "As good as it gets", and they have a new "upscale" martini bar called Martini's On The Bay. They serve Omaha Black Angus Beef and you can watch the chef cook yours over the open pit right there in the dining room! Been there, by boat too, liked it, great sunsets.

Coy's - 300 Coy Street, 501-321-1414
Just off East Grand, Coy's has been a Hot Springs staple since 1945. The Hot Springs Sentinel-Record Readers Poll says #1 Best Steak and the Arkansas Times says Best Steak & Best Overall Restaurant! I say try the Filet Mignon & Jumbo Fried Shrimp - OMG. And they bring you these great warmed crackers but forget the butter, try 'em with their house salad dressing instead! Don't let the valet service throw you, the atmosphere is cool and casual.

The Porterhouse Steak & Seafood - 707 Central, 501-321-8282
A new experience awaits you in the tradition of the finest of New York’s classic steak houses. Haven't had the pleasure but I hear good things.

Traditional

Belle Riverboat Hot Springs - 5200 Central Ave, 501-525-4438
The Belle really should be in a category all it's own since it actually is a riverboat! She takes you out on Lake Hamilton for a Lunch & Sightseeing Cruise or a Sunset Dinner Dance Cruise. My wife and I have done the Sunset Cruise a couple times, very nice, especially on the upper deck cruising back after dinner.
